Starting on the 16th of March I aim to produce one portrait every day for one hundred days. This is not a formal project, only a personal challenge. Ideally I would like each portrait to be of someone I didn't know, but it will also be fantastic when people I do know are willing to get involved. Although I enjoy more formal portraits this project will not be so limiting or constrictive, informal and impromptu portraits are just as important for documenting and preserving the characters and faces.
As far as rules go for this project (so I can retain a sense of formality) I MUST inform the person that I am taking a photo (and that it is for this project). The psychology of knowing that you are being photographed is fundamental; also, as this is a personal project, stating my intentions and ambitions helps highlight the relationship that will be conveyed in the image. This means I CANNOT use candid portraits of people who have not been previously informed of the 100 Portraits in 100 Days.
Now, to keep motivated I will have to contact friends (old and new) and family, as well as spending more time on the streets. If you would like to feature in the project please feel free to contact me and get involved!
